Cheers & Jeers: Parker Posey Wilts on The Big C
Parker Posey Jeers to The Big C for bringing out the worst in Parker Posey. Want more Cheers & Jeers? Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now! In its second season, Showtime's cancer-themed comedy has embraced its aggressively quirky side, much to its own detriment. Even the deservedly Emmy-nominated Laura Linney can't keep the show grounded in reality anymore. And The Big C only got more irritatingly twee with the addition of indie-film curio Posey as Poppy P. Kowalski (even her name, an in-joke on the actress' own floral moniker as well as her Superman Returns henchwoman Kitty Kowalski, is annoying). Poppy creepily meets Linney's teenage son, Adam (Gabriel Basso), in a Kids with Cancer chatroom and proceeds to accompany him to the funeral of his uncle's miscarriage. (Don't ask.) How do we know Poppy is a free spirit? She wears a knit cap! And drives an AMC Pacer! And screams "I don't have an inside voice!" in the middle of a café! The episode's clichéd moral was "Don't delay the happy," but if this series keeps Posey around much longer, the happy might not just be postponed - it could be Cancelled with a Big C. Johnny Knoxville On For Scout Comedy
Patton Oswalt co-starring.... To look at them, you might not ordinarily think that Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt would be brothers. But that's exactly what writer/director Todd Rohal is hoping you'll believe, as he's cast them to play warring siblings in his new, currently untitled scout comedy. Knoxville, still best known for the madcap antics of the Jackass crew and Oswalt, last seen in The Informant! and soon to crop up in Jason Reitman's Young Adult, will play a pair of brothers endlessly vying for the attention of their father. When poor old pop starts to get sick, the pressure becomes even more intense as the two men compete to see who can be the best leader when they take a troop of boys on a camping expedition. Naturally, it all goes comically awry. And they're not the only ones aboard, as Rob Riggle, Maura Tierney and Patrice O'Neal are also signing on to co-star. Rohal wrote the script and originally called it Scout Master. There's no word on what it'll eventually be named, but it kicks off shooting this week.

News Corp.: Elisabeth Murdoch won't join board
Elisabeth Murdoch won't be joining this news Corp. in the near future. In additional fallout in the phone-hacking scandal which has surrounded News Corp.'s British newspapers, the business's board of company directors stated Friday that Elisabeth Murdoch won't be nominated to become listed on the board in October as planned following News Corp.'s purchase of her Shine Group production-distribution company in Feb for $674 million.Although it's likely merely a temporary delay, the tabling of Elisabeth Murdoch's nomination -- which in fact had been set to become approved at News Corp.'s annual meeting in Gotham on March. 15 -- is clearly a proceed to appease concerns about governance issues which have been elevated for that larger company because the political scandal increased for the organization within the U.K.The Shine Group acquisition continues to be belittled by some as overpriced, because of the assets, and driven by News Corp. supremo Rupert Murdoch's need to bring his daughter into the organization fold as well as on the board. The 17-member board already includes Rupert and the two sons, James Murdoch, who heads News Corp.'s Asia and europe procedures and it has been at the middle of the current debate, and Lachlan, who doesn't have an professional role at News Corp. at the moment.Because the Shine acquisition, Elisabeth Murdoch has ongoing to mind her London-based Shine Group being an autonomous unit of News Corp.Inside a statement released Friday evening, News Corp. board member Viet Dinh, chairman from the board's nominating and governance committee, stated:"Elisabeth Murdoch recommended towards the independent company directors some days ago that they felt it might be inappropriate to incorporate her nomination towards the board of News Corp. only at that year's (annual investors meeting), as have been introduced by chairman and Boss Rupert Murdoch during the time of buying of Shine Group captured. Benjamin Master Joining Paradise Lost
Playing the Archangel MichaelAlex Proyas' ambitious adaptation of John Milton's Paradise Lost is starting in the future fully get together now after lengthy years in development. Bradley Cooper has already been mounted on play fallen angel Lucifer, and today Benjamin Master looks set to become listed on the development because the Archangel Michael, Lucifer's counterpart for that war in Paradise. It's another hot role for that actor, who had small roles in Kinsey and Flags in our Fathers, but beat off strong competition for that lead role in Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln subsequently: Vampire Hunter. He'll go completely from fighting the undead to fighting the old serpent known as the Demon and Satan, who deceiveth the world. Proyas is likely to turn Milton's 17th Century blank verse right into a sprawling fantasy epic, heavy about the soaring set pieces . He informs Deadline that you will see three major fight moments within the film to rival The The almighty from the Rings and 300: one out of Paradise, one out of Hell and something in Eden. I do not think the pictures might have been done justice so far, the very exciting to be a movie director within this modern day of visual effects, he states. But he's keen to worry that It's not only armies fighting within an epic war. It is really an adventure concerning the roots of excellent and evil. That's the scope from the narrative here, and we have attempted to express as faithful as you possibly can to Milton's text, particularly its concentrate on Lucifer's evolution and also the birth of evil. It is a family saga, about several siblings, two particularly, who're on divergent pathways, and Lucifer's feelings of unfaithfulness by his father and family that forge his descent into evil. I have sometimes believed that only a crazy person may wish to get this to movie, since it is aesthetically audacious and needs to meet a vintage poem that's so beloved. Proyas states he thinks Walker's personality, mixing great strength and excellent innocence is going to be place-on for Michael, specially when pitted from the harmful charisma of Bradley Cooper. Lucifer was the cleverest and wisest from the archangels, and even while he descended into evil and developed into Satan, he isn't some black-and-whitened villain. Bradley brings remarkable depth to that particular journey. Shooting is scheduled to finally begin in The month of january, giving Cooper time for you to accrue The Silver Textures Playbook. Expect a release for Paradise Lost for the finish of 2013. If you are unsure you are able to wait that lengthy, may we recommend TV's Supernatural, season 5, while you are waiting?
